This policy explains what information JournalMundi collects from visitors to journalmundi.com, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. We've written it in plain language on purpose. If something isn't clear, contact us directly.
What we collect
When you visit JournalMundi, our servers automatically log basic technical information: your IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages you visit, and the time and duration of your visit. This is standard for any website and is used solely to keep the site running properly and to understand, in aggregate, how people read and move through our content.
If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address and nothing else. We do not ask for your name, your location, or any other identifying information unless you choose to provide it when contacting us directly.
If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence. We don't share it.
What we don't do
We do not sell your data. We do not broker it, trade it, or pass it to advertisers. We do not build profiles on individual readers. We do not use your reading habits to serve you targeted advertising.
JournalMundi does not run behavioural advertising. Any ads that appear on the site are contextual — matched to the content of the page, not to a profile of you.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. Some are strictly necessary for the site to function. Others are analytics cookies that help us understand which articles are being read and where traffic comes from. These analytics are aggregated and anonymous — we cannot identify you from them.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Some features of the site may not work correctly if you do, but most of it will.
We do not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
Third parties
JournalMundi uses a small number of third-party services to operate: a hosting provider, an email delivery service for our newsletter, and an analytics platform. Each of these operates under its own privacy policy. We choose service providers that do not use the data we share with them for their own commercial purposes.
We do not embed social media tracking pixels. Share buttons, if present, are static links — they do not phone home to social platforms unless you actively click them.
Your rights
You have the right to know what data we hold about you, to request its deletion, and to opt out of any communications from us at any time. Every newsletter we send includes an unsubscribe link. To request access to or deletion of any personal data we may hold, contact us here.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK data protection law, and the CCPA respectively. We honour those rights for all readers regardless of where they are located.
Data retention
Newsletter subscriber data is held for as long as you remain subscribed, plus a short period afterward to process the unsubscription. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted. Email correspondence is retained for up to two years.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify newsletter subscribers. We won't bury significant changes in the fine print.
